Area Congressman Votes to Help Veterans

U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) voted Thursday in favor of legislation to increase veterans' benefits. The rate increase is expected to be 3.6 percent and is the first increase for veterans' benefits in two years.

Beaver airport to resurface runway

The Beaver County Airport is receiving a $2,557,250 federal grant to rehabilitate its runway, which handles general aviation and military traffic. The county-owned airport in Chippewa is mainly used to train pilots and air traffic controllers. There are no passenger flights at the airport.

Altmire Pushes for Toll Credits for Appalachian Development Highway System Projects

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This week, U.S. Congressman Jason Altmire (PA-04) sent a letter to House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Chairman, John Mica (FL-07), requesting that any transportation reauthorization legislation the committee drafts include language that would permit the use of toll credits for Appalachian Development Highway System (ADHS) projects. The authority to use toll credits toward the non-federal match for ADHS projects was prohibited in 2005 as part of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU).
